Hi, Friends!

I grew up as a free-spirited flower child along the shores of Virginia Beach, happiest barefoot and somewhere near the water. Decades later, nature is still where I feel most grounded, closest to God, and most like myself.

​

My path since then has been anything but straight. More like a salty Auntie Anne's pretzel with extra twists and turns along the way. Some good. Some not so much. But in the end, I am forever grateful.

​

​For more than 20 years, I've worked in healthcare as a Doctor of Pharmacy. Motherhood inspired me to write The Colic Chronicles, published by Hachette Book Group (formerly Da Capo Press), and my children's health column, The Medicine Mom. Along the way, I became a health coach and personal trainer, launched Transformations with Tara, returned to writing—and even stepped wildly outside my comfort zone to play murder victim "Fiona" in ABC's R.J. Decker.

Working in the ICU during COVID, I saw firsthand what loneliness and isolation can do to our health, reinforcing something I now believe to my core: we need each other—not just to thrive, but to survive.

​

I've come to understand that personally, too. As a divorced empty nester, I've had to be intentional about finding and creating connection in this new chapter of my life. I find it through volunteering, through my church, by reaching out and showing up—and, always, in nature.

 

Through motherhood, loss, illness, new beginnings, and plenty I never saw coming, faith, stubbornness, laughter, connection, and hope for a brighter tomorrow have carried me forward.

And when life gets especially noisy?

I head outside.

​

Somewhere along the way, all these pieces began coming together: my passion for health, writing, people, nature, and the belief that we're simply better when we're connected.

​

That's the heart of Transformations with Tara—helping us connect with and care for ourselves, each other, and the natural world.

​

Because connection leads to care. And care has a way of spreading.
